Summer Rayne Oakes is known for her work in eco-fashion and sustainability ventures. After her modeling career began in the early 2000s, she became known as the first “Eco-model.” Oakes began her modeling career while attending Cornell University. She was approached by a man who landed her a gig in part with a rainforest conservation through the well-known photography business, Organic Portraits from 2001-2004. Oakes is still actively participating in environmental ventures including a youth climate change movement called the Energy Action Coalition. In addition, her work in Africa brings cleaning water and attention to deforestation. In 2005, Oakes personally designed and launched her education curriculum called ECOFASHION 101, the first of its kind. Her audience is directed at the youth to create environmental education at a young age.
